Route Map showing Day 07 of the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail, Mitchell to Dayville Oregon

Today was a short travel day as I knew I'd be starting with a huge climb and I wasn't sure how I'd feel after 94 miles yesterday. I felt great.

My stay at Spoke'n Hostel was exceptional. After experiencing lavish hospitality from the proprietors, Jalét and Patrick, I began wondering what would happen if leaders thought about extending radical hospitality at work.

This goes beyond diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives. It goes beyond food and games (helpful but insufficient). It's a mindset. And it's about the courage to engage, the competencies to create connections, and the character to see the needs and value in every teammate.

What are your ideas on how to practice radical hospitality with your teammates at work?

Encouraging words at the Spoke'n Hostel: "I left my heart in so many places" and "SHAME says that because I am flawed, I am unacceptable; GRACE says though I am flawed I am CHERISHED."

Making memories
  • Tonight I'm enjoying a stay at the Fish House Inn B&B in Dayville, Oregon. The grounds are gorgeous and I'm enjoying both my room and the yard.
  • The view of the stars in unbelievable. You can see the Milky Way Galaxy at night. I've always loved star gazing.

  1. Love this idea! I’m not always as kind and compassionate with peers or even my own family as I am with strangers. I’m going to think more about radical hospitality in the work place.
