Route Map showing Day 41 of the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail, Walnut Kansas to Pittsburg Kansas

What a fun find at Veteran's Park in Girard, KS. The park used to be home to the most widely circulated newspaper in 1913, "Appeal to Reason." It later hosted "Little Blue Books" which was the largest printing press west of the Mississippi in 1923. What a decade for Girard, KS!

Making memories
  • Towns on Today's Travel Route: Girard and Pittsburg...my last two stops in Kansas! Pittsburg is a thriving small town and known for is emerging work-from-home tech community. There's a college, a thriving downtown, and the cost of living is affordable!
